Our Australian Tea Tree Essential Oil is produced by steam distillation of the needle-like leaves of Melaleuca alternifolia. Tea tree leaves have been used by Aboriginal Australian peoples for centuries — they applied crushed leaves to their skin for a cooling feel. Today the oil, with over 90 different natural compounds, is one of the most familiar and commonly used essential oils in the world.
Aroma: fresh, clean and camphoraceous, with spicy, warm undertones and a hint of cardamom — a scent that simply says “clean.”
How to Enjoy Australian Tea Tree Essential Oil:
- Diffuser: Add 10 drops per 100 ml of water in your essential oil diffuser for a fresh, invigorating atmosphere.
- Skin care: Dilute so that the essential oil does not exceed 3% of the total volume — for instance, 1 ml of essential oil in 30 ml of carrier oil, or 18 drops in 1 oz of carrier oil such as jojoba, sweet almond, avocado, olive, coconut or grapeseed oil. Use it as a cleansing face or body oil; skin looks clearer, smoother and fresher.
- Hair & scalp: Add 6 drops per ounce of shampoo and wash hair as usual, paying special attention to the scalp — it leaves the scalp feeling fresh and clean.
- Feet & nails: Massage the diluted blend into feet and around the toenails; nails and feet look well-groomed and feel fresh.
- Massage & bath: Combine with a carrier oil for a crisp, clean-scented massage, or mix a few drops into a spoonful of carrier oil before adding to bathwater.
- Home cleaning scent: Add a few drops to natural household cleaners for a fresh, clean scent in every corner.
Blends well with: lavender, eucalyptus, rosemary, lemon, peppermint, cypress and clary sage.
